According to an article at TWICE we soon may expect official information about the rumored answer of Microsoft on the ongoing success of the Apple iPod strategy. Ami Gilroy, editor at TWICE, claims "Microsoft is in the process of unveiling its line of Microsoft Zune portable digital audio players" to its retailers. The Microsoft Zune MP3 player supposes to incorporate a 30GB hard drive and a LCD monitor larger than its Apple rival. Additionally it is also expected that the Microsoft Zune audio player is capable of transferring its data via Wi-Fi connection. Pricing of the Zune media player would be $299 and available in three colors. Although the information is at this moment not official, it is interesting.

Microsoft Zune media player - Audio
Besides introducing the Zune wearable audio player TWICE is also claiming Microsoft is going to continue to support its PlaysForSure licensees, even while Microsoft launches its own media web site, and set-up like Apple did its own digital media castle from where it can rule the portable media player market. The main attraction of portable media players is often their design and versatility (being able to load and play different formats of media). It will be interesting to learn more about the full specifications of the Microsoft Zune media player.

Media player history
The first non-mechanical digital audio player in the world was created by SaeHan Information Systems in 1997. The MPMan F10 was later an OEM product for the American market through Eiger Labs. Throughout the years several manufacturer were able to launch its own digital audio player, or DAP, but no one was able to reach the success Apple has with its iPod players. Since the iPod introduction the market for wearable audio players literally exploded and every other manufacturer is trying to lauch it's own iPod killer. Will Microsoft Zune be the ultimate one?
