Sanyo Xacti DMX-CG6
At the Sanyo booth we were surprised to see the new Sanyo Xacti model that has just been release in Japan. We took some time to sort things out and manage to get an overview of the features of the new Sanyo Xacti DMX-CG6 digital compact camera. The Sanyo Xacti CA6 incorporates a richly detailed 6.37 Megapixel CCD and Sanyo's proprietary image-adaptive data processing technology. This ensures low noise in dark areas, as well as more beautiful realization of skin colors. A high-powered 5x optical zoom lens lets you get up close and personal with your subject, even more so if you pair it with the 12x digital zoom. In Europe the new Sanyo CG6 digital camera will be available next year.
Sanyo DMX CG6 camera - Photo and Video
The Sanyo Xacti DMX CG6 camera features a vertically oriented design that’s easy on your wrists, essential, given the ultra-long 80 minutes of continuous recording it can deliver. Using the highly compressed MPEG-4 format enables the Sanyo Xacti CG6 to achieve 30 fps, VGA-size (640 x 480) recording. With an optional 4GB memory card (when using a 4GB SDHC memory card), you can store up to 4 hours of superb and memorable video clips. What’s more, still and video images can be captured simultaneously.
Sanyo CG6 digital camera - Resolution and Zoom
The Xacti CG6 incorporates a 1/2.5 inch CCD with 6.37 Megapixels (total). Using 9-pixel image mixing technology, it captures low-noise images at 9x sensitivity. Our original algorithm utilizes a pixel-interpolation filter to convert images from 6.0 megapixels into the recorded equivalent of 10 Megapixels (3670 x 2760 pixels). Images can be printed at up to A3 size with superb precision, and specific parts of an image can be enlarged for detailed printing. The Sanyo Xacti DMX-CG6’s high-performance 5x optical zoom lens features a maximum aperture of f/3.5. Even faraway subjects can be captured in stunning detail. Coupled with the 12x digital zoom, the optical zoom provides up to 60x magnification.
Sanyo Xacti CG6 compact camera - Anti shake
An original corrective algorithm developed by Sanyo delivers optimum anti-shake control across the full shooting range, from wide-angle to telephoto. This algorithm enables the Sanyo CG6 camera to accurately distinguish hand trembling from intentional camera movements, such as pans or tilts. Unlike the systems on some other cameras, this system can correct for camera shake without sacrificing the natural motion of your camera work.
Sanyo Xacti CG6 - MPEG 4 recording
The Sanyo DMX-CG6 uses the highly compressed MPEG-4 format, enabling 30 fps, VGA-size (640 x 480) recording. Played back on a big-screen TV, images look simply beautiful. Not only are these MPEG-4 files easy to handle, they’re also small. This means you can record high-quality images for longer, up to 240 minutes in TV-HQ mode on a 4GB SD card. When it comes to audio, the Sanyo Xacti DMX-CG6 sports a stereo microphone and employs the AAC-LC (MPEG-4 Audio) format. This format delivers higher compression rates than with MP3 and other earlier formats, resulting in smaller-sized files. High-quality stereo, 16-bit recording at 48 kHz is augmented by a noise-reduction feature that minimizes wind noise on the microphone during filming.
