Fujifilm Image Intelligence
Personally I found the huge booth of Fujifilm was a big success as to explaining the visitor the advantages of a Fujifilm digital camera and why you just need to have one. Fujifilm has several divisions targeting a diverse range of market segments; medical imaging, professional graphic arts, professional and amateur consumer photography, and more. Each of those segments uses innovative techniques to bring high quality solutions to their clients. At the Fujifilm booth there was a demonstration of what can be a result of bringing those innovations from various segments together…
Fujifilm concept at Photokina booth
I met Hideki Morikawa, Operations Manager Business Incubation Division, and Ikemizu Kenji, Business Incubation Division and was informed by Hideki about a new concept of how to manage and enjoy your collection of digital images. In one word, the demonstration was awesome. Seeing is believing, and the way Fujifilm demonstrated this concept is very intriguing. Imagine you have a collection of digital photos of your family, friends and captured moments from other occasions… it isn't hard to imagine because almost everyone did not make any effort to archive their images and just stores them on one hard drive.
Fujifilm Image Intelligence
With Fujifilm's Image Intelligence it is just a matter of minutes to organize them and even create a nice slideshow of them. The program is able to recognize various faces and compositions and automatically groups them in order. For example, group photos are a blue section, landscape a green section, etc. The next steps in analyzing, is sorting out the double compositions and divide the 'bad' ones from the good ones. During the analyzing process the Fujifilm Image Intelligence is able to recognize the faces and gives you’re the opportunity to select the person who may play the leading role in the next part. After a few seconds there is an option to edit music to it, which will be done automatically by the Image Intelligence. The end result is amazing, a nice photo movie is play backed on a television and with every image a nice digital effect highlights the selected person by zooming in, etc.
EVERPLAY - PASS standard
This demonstration is part of EVERPLAY. EVERPLAY contains a set of standards for the consumer imaging and electronics industry, aimed to provide products that are designed to satisfy consumers desire to protect their image assets for generations and provide interoperability across a variety of devices. Since Photokina 2004, when its formation was announced, the EVERPLAY founders have worked to define the standard, which was initially called the Picture Archiving and Sharing Standard, abbreviated as "PASS" at that time. In concurrence with the completion of the PASS standard and the start of licensing, the new name "EVERPLAY" shall be used as an interchangeable name for the spec.
EVERPLAY standard - Preserving photographic images
The EVERPLAY standard has defined the rules for preserving photographic images and associated meta data, so that they can be reproduced and enjoyed even through the transition to future storage media and technologies. EVERPLAY enables evolution of an individual company's system/products while at the same time sustaining interoperability and preserving the photographic images.
