In Hall 6 SanDisk showcase their line-up of flash memory solutions. In just a few years the number of flash memory formats has increased dramatically and with the booming mobile imaging market the size of a flash card decreased even faster. One of the formats, like the CompactFlash, is still one the favorite format for the professional photographer. His complete workflow is created around this flash memory card. His professional digital SLR camera incorporates a CF card slot, he is working with a CF card reader, FireWire or USB 2.0 and his storage devices are used to back-up his data from the CompactFlash card.

Every time SanDisk introduced the next step of flash memory solutions, in this case a higher storage capacity, we always hear the same reaction; "Wow… when will I ever need this amount of Gigabytes?" This is the same reaction we heard when SanDisk introduced the new storage capacities for Extreme III CF cards; the SanDisk Extreme III 12 and 16GB CompactFlash flash memory cards. However these cards are targeted for the professional user and those consumers are almost always shooting in RAW and often in RAW + JPEG format at the same time. And there is always a group of digital medium format users who are almost begging for higher storage capacities. For example the new Hasselblad H3D digital SLR camera is shooting 39 Megapixels resulting into an 8bit TIFF file of 117MB.
