Canon IXUS 90 Review

The Canon IXUS 90 IS digital camera has a stylish and a compact trendy body offering ten Megapixels of resolution. With the help of a 3x optical zoom, unfortunately no 28mm wide angle, Canon's optical Image Stabilizer (IS) with lens-shifting feature, PureColor LCD II and integrated enhanced intelligent software the Canon Digital IXUS 90 is a camera with powerful features packed in a neat and compact size designer housing. Other features such as for instance quality and user's ease are just as important in contributing to the success of a camera.

The design of the Canon IXUS 90 IS camera is a nice piece of work. The camera just looks beautiful which of course is a matter of taste, but for me, this Canon model belongs to one of my favourite designs. The Canon Digital IXUS 90 has a unique operating pad; it's completely flat which makes it look like the camera has been hewn from one solid piece of metal. Even the smallest detail is well-thought through which makes this an interesting model for the design and digital photography fan. The rectangular housing hasn't got exactly rounded edges but shows clear curvy edges and corners. The front of the Canon IXUS 90 IS seems to be one piece of solid metal with a lens centred in a circle.

Flash Memory Support
The top of the Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS has a carved line over the entire length. In and around this carve the on/off button and the release/zoom buttons are positioned. One side of the camera carries the built-in speaker and the other side hides the AV/Out interfaces, behind a cover that is beautifully integrated in the design. The bottom of the camera has a universal (metal) tripod connection and the compartment for inserting the Li-Ion battery and the memory card. The Canon camera supports SD, SDHC, MMC, MMCplus and HCMMCplus. In my case a 32MB memory card was included.

Canon IXUS Review
The Canon IXUS 90 IS scores really well on image quality, colour reproduction and user’s ease. The limited zoom capacity of the camera remains a pity. I am sure there is a reason for not applying it, but personally I find a 28mm wide angle a feature that Canon should not have missed. Wide angle has many advantages and not only for the enhanced photographer. Take for example the indoor pictures in a living room, landscapes and all sorts of small rooms where photographing takes place. Wide angle does pay for itself very fast. I really hope that Canon will equip the next generation IXUS cameras standard with at least 28mm. Read the full Canon IXUS Review at LetsGoDigital.
