Photokina report
The latest Canon DSLR is called Canon EOS 450D, and will be put on the market beside the EOS 400D. The SLR cameras look like twins. Canon have kept all the good things of the EOS 400D, whilst adding new ones to it. Naturally the Canon EOS 450D works seamlessly with the EF-S lenses. These were developed especially for the APS-C format of the image sensor, resulting in a cheaper and more compact lens. Together with the compact body, the Canon 450D is the ideal set to use on holiday where usually lots of photographs are taken.
Canon EOS Digital Photography
Keeping pace with the trend, the Canon EOS 450D features a 3" inch screen on its back. Whereas the monitor of the EOS 400D only allowed you to view photos, the Canon EOS 450D also lets you also use the LCD monitor for shooting. This is because the latest Canon offers Live View. This doesn't come as a surprise though; all the new Canon SLR models are being equipped with this technique. Photographing using Live View undoubtedly has its advantages. And since many EOS 450D users are likely to have switched from a compact camera to this DSLR, it will give them a trusty feeling.

Compact SLR Camera
Compared to the EOS 400D, the 450D hasn't changed much. The Canon 450D is a beautiful and compact digital reflex camera. Despite its small dimensions, the EOS 450D offers an excellent hand-fit, thanks to its clear handgrip. If you find the camera's height inconvenient, since part of the fingers fall below the grip, you can place a battery pack underneath. Although this would mean the benefit of a small camera is lost. If your coat pockets have a reasonable size, the Canon 450D will fit in them perfectly together with the standard EF-S 18-55 mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS lens.
Canon EOS 450D Review
In order to keep the Canon 450D light and affordable, a lot of plastic has been used. This shouldn't be a problem however, since plastic can be very strong. It is a pity though that Canon did not opt for a somewhat rougher surface. The Canon EOS 450D feels a tad cheap. But don't let this deceive you, as it is still a strong camera.
