Photokina report

The famous Nikon yellow and black colors dominated a huge part of the gigantic halls of the Photokina show. The booth accurately represented Nikon's presentation in the world in 2008. The huge booth was crowded with people and could have done with some more floor space to be able to accommodate all the visitors. Nikon's DSLR models passed from hand to hand among the eager crowd. The new Nikon D90 was in the limelight, although the successful D3, D300 and the recently introduced D700 also seemed extremely wanted and popular.

Since last year, and not entirely coincidentally; from the time of the introduction of the Nikon D3 and D300 onwards, Nikon has made sure the company continually gets noticed. There seems to have been a change which makes Nikon not only hit the target in the field of innovation, but also shows a fast introduction to the market and an availability of the product that is remarkable. Once again, Nikon achieves this with the Nikon D90, the successor to the D80, and at the same time they have a scoop with enabling video recording for DSLR worldwide. The Nikon D90 features the usual improvements such as faster continuous shooting possibility, Live View and a 3 inch LCD monitor. In addition, the Nikon D90 has been enhanced with various image editing functions such as a number of built-in filters.

Nikon employees behind the D-SLR counter explained the many questions they were asked through 1:1 demonstrations. Various lenses among which the specialized PC-E Nikkor models and the high quality Nano coated Nikkor zoom lenses, changed both body and user rapidly. Besides this DSLR force, other items drew the attention too, such as Capture NX2 for editing the digital image, and in addition many demonstrations of flash techniques were given, whilst studio portrait photography was also in the spotlight with many enthusiastic visitors.

Nikon Coolpix digital cameras
One corner of the Nikon booth seemed to be rather lonely; that of the Coolpix camera models. This was so different from the interest for Nikon DSLR and software, which made a huge amount of people attend the booth. Nikon does have a broad assortment of Coolpix models; however, in my opinion the majority of the cameras in this line are anonymous, lacking the typical Nikon appearance, apart from a few of the Coolpix models. Nikon Coolpix camera models that were in favor are the Coolpix P6000 with built-in GPS and the top model of the S-series, the Nikon Coolpix S710. See the full Nikon photo gallery at LetsGoDigital.
