The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX150 does not mind a few extra Megapixels. No less than 14.7 Megapixels have been crammed onto the 1/1.72 inch image sensor. We don't even find a resolution this high standard on most digital SLR cameras, exceptional! However, the question arises: what do we do with an amount this high? Is it really necessary to equip a compact camera with a resolution this high, or did marketing play a big role in this? Yet, the fact still stands that the Panasonic LUMIX FX150 was introduced last summer, and that it was exactly this high resolution that distinguishes the camera from other LUMIX introductions.

In addition to the 14.7 Megapixels, Panasonic's famous image stabilizer has been integrated; MEGA O.I.S. A system like this is extremely effective and with the 3.6x optical zoom, you will benefit from it in practice. The optical zoom lens offers a focal range of 28-100 mm which is an excellent range to capture everything from a landscape/group picture up to portraits. The back of the Panasonic DMC-FX150 is covered by a 2.7 inch sized monitor with a wide viewing angle; the camera lacks an optical viewfinder.

In addition, the compact Panasonic DMC-FX150 digital camera features many handy, fully automatic settings. Activating the auto mode (iA mode) lets the camera act fully by itself, however, Panasonic takes this one step further with the Intelligent Scene selector, at which the camera selects the correct preset scenes based on what the camera is actually detecting. Aim the camera at a flower and close-up mode will be activated, after that aim at the person holding the flower and the portrait mode is selected. Motion of the object is also detected by the Panasonic DMC-FX150 and the subject will be tracked by the focus. In short; Panasonic has integrated an elaborate automation in the FX150.
