Canon digital IXUS 300 HS compact digital camera review : The new Canon IXUS camera is made up of quite a few generations. Canon frequently introduces its design cameras that are especially aimed at the trendy amateur photographer. When we look at the technical specifications, we notice that the Canon 300HS camera is equipped with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. It is a so-called backside-illuminated image sensor that is to ensure a higher image quality at high ISO values and a large dynamic range. The 10 Megapixels are (luckily) conservative and seem to be particularly aimed at a higher pixel quality. The f/2.0 aperture in wide angle is also a welcome feature that makes it possible, together with the optical image stabilizer, to photograph with low light.

The material on the Canon IXUS camera feels a bit rough, which is beneficial for handling. There is, however, no hand grip. Canon IXUS 300 HS review
The Canon IXUS 300 HS camera’s image quality is excellent. It has a pleasantly corresponding color reproduction, it is fairly natural and only slightly deviates from the calibrated Gretag Macbeth Colorchecker color card. The Canon IXUS 300HS digital camera suffers a bit from chromatic aberration in several cases with high contrast, but it is hardly visible, and only on the corner of the frame. We can accept the little distortion and the light corner blurring at 28mm wide angle, because for the rest, the zoom lens performs very well.

The Canon IXUS 300 HS is a stylish design camera with a high image quality. It is a camera for the design-conscious consumer with an eye for image quality. The technical specifications make the Canon 300HS distinguish itself from the masses. The fine image quality together with the design, form a fine combination.
