Casio test photos from Amsterdam

Posted by: Mark Peters Wednesday 4th, July 2007

We have had the Casio Exilim EX-V7 compact camera at our office for a long time, and we have made a lot of test shots in Amsterdam, among others. The new Casio Exilim EX-V7 was officially introduced at the start of 2007, and has been available quite recently. At the moment the Casio EX-V7 is the only line of Exilim camera with a 7x optical zoom lens. This is also its unique characteristic, as even with the 7x optical zoom, it maintains its slim, compact form. Additionally, the Casio Exilim EX-V7 has a CCD stabiliser system, and a new processor: the Exilim Engine 2.0. Casio is one of the pioneers of the digital camera market and is outstanding for integrating innovative image solutions in its compact cameras.

Canon EOS 400D review

Posted by: Mark Peters Monday 20th, November 2006

Three years ago, Canon shocked the camera market with the introduction of the 8 Megapixel EOS 300D. It was a price breakthrough that would prove very important for the DSLR market. Suddenly, a digital SLR camera had become available for the novice photographer. And things didn't end there; since this event, digital SLR models have been in high demand. After a year and a half, Canon introduced the EOS 350D, which easily matched the success of its predecessor. It was a pretty safe bet that the successor of the EOS 350D would once again follow a year and a half later. Such was indeed the case. Canon's latest DSLR camera, the successor of the EOS 350D, turns out to be the Canon EOS 400D, a ten Megapixel model.

Nikon's newest weapon is the D40, and Nikon is using it to raise the stakes. The Nikon D40 DSLR is primarily meant for consumers who want more than a compact camera. In the profile of the target group, Nikon sees a family person between 30 and 70 years old. The typical user of the Nikon D40 is looking for a camera that stimulates creative qualities and reacts quicker than a compact camera.

Micron interview

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Wednesday 11th, October 2006

While preparing the Photokina tour some of us talked about Micron and its line of sensor solutions. So after informing about Micron's activities we decided to set up a brief Q & A session with Suresh Venkatraman, director of Marketing Micron Imaging and Paul Clark, Regional Communications Manager Europe. And already after some minutes it was obvious that this company was not just playing around in the digital imaging market. It has actually come up wit great innovative ideas and a lot of Micron products we already got acquainted to; like the image sensors for camphones. What about high-speed recording? Not with 30 frames a sec., but what the heck… 5000 frames a second? The Micron guys showed us an amazing demonstration, impressive!

Leica interview

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Wednesday 11th, October 2006

One of the surprises of the Photokina 2006 was Leica. And beside an interesting introduction of the compact camera series, and a digital SLR camera Leica unveiled their digital M camera; the Leica M8. The Leica M8 offers a resolution of 10.3 megapixels and incorporates a notably low-noise CCD image sensor has been rigorously optimized for the special features of the Leica M lens system. The special design of the viewfinder camera with no mirror box allows the typically compact and flat shape of the Leica M to be retained. The small focal length extension factor of 1.33 enables creative freedom even in digital Leica M Photography. We discussed the new Leica M8 with Michael Agel, Press + Public relations of Leica.
