Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world's largest provider of thin-film transistor, liquid crystal display (TFT LCD) panels, begins producing seven-inch LCDs in September to take the lead in the WVGA display market for mobile devices. The seven-inch LCD is well suited for high-end multimedia products such as handsets for digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB), portable multimedia players (PMPs), portable DVD players, and portable navigation systems. Samsung plans to expand the seven-inch LCD production capacity to 10 million units by 2007.
