Photokina report
The British company Continental Mobiles has been selling exclusive mobile phones and iPods online since September 2006. Gold versions of various mobile phone brands and models are being sold. In addition, Continental Mobiles offer various mobile phones with embedded diamonds. All purchases are delivered with a so-called 'Gold Card', which stands for the exclusively British manufacturing of the product. Even though the Apple iPhone in itself is already a unique device, the combination with the additions of Continental Mobiles ensures that you, as a user, are guaranteed not to meet a similar device.

Electric car pioneer ZAP says its iZAP battery designed for the Apple iPod is more useful for the energy intensive Apple iPhone. "The iZAP battery was a life-saver during my business trip to China last week," said Apple iPhone owner Steve Schneider, Chief Executive Officer for ZAP. "Frankly, if an Apple iPod runs out of power, losing your music and photo or video is not as critical to your business trip as the Apple iPhone. You lose your cell phone access, text messages, Internet and email access, time zone clock, business notes, scheduling software, driving maps, calculator and all the other news and information for which the Apple iPhone was designed."

Apple, who was noticeably well visited in general, introduced a new version of Aperture at its press meeting: Apple Aperture 1.5. Most of us had expected Apple to come up with a new update, but were not sure about what exactly would be improved or renewed. What was remarkable was the seamless integration with iLife '06 and iWork '06, giving permanent direct access to pictures. There was also support for XMP meta data and an integrated export-API, with which Aperture workflow can be extended with programs and applications from other manufacturers. During the Photokina there were demonstrations of all sorts of plug-ins from leading companies, including Getty Images, iStockphoto, Pictage, Flickr, PhotoShelter, DigitalFusion, Soundslides en Connected Flow. These plug-ins offer a series of print, publication and storage workflows that use this new architecture.
