Sigma - Booth at Photokina 2004
|
|
Sigma was located near Nikon with the stand in the well-known Sigma colours, red and black. The enormous range of lenses Sigma showed gave the visitor the impression that this is the number one lens manufacturer, without a doubt. Well, at least Sigma showed everything they were capable of. During this Photokina Sigma did not introduce any new digital cameras or had something to share with the consumer about any plans of introducing one in the future. The Sigma SD10 is still being demonstrated by a photographer, but the excitement of the Foveon concept is not there anymore. What seemed to be one of the most promising features of digital imaging is now just a feature of history. Sigma is successful in lenses and that is something they can be proud of. Just before the Photokina started Sigma introduced 5 new lenses and a new ring flash. Among the new lenses is also a new lens dedicated to the FourThirds system. Something Olympus will be glad of! This new system is very interesting, but needs more support from other manufacturers like Sigma. The number of visitors Sigma received satisfied Sigma for sure.
