Canon EOS 50D CMOS technology
Canon’s CMOS technology is one of the company’s key competitive advantages, with noise reduction circuitry at each pixel site delivering virtually noise-free images. In comparison with CCD technology, the lower power consumption characteristics of Canon’s CMOS sensors also contribute to longer battery life. Signal conversion in Canon’s CMOS sensors is handled by individual amplifiers at each pixel site. Unnecessary charge transfer operations are avoided, vastly speeding up the process of getting signal to the image processor. Noise generation is reduced, power consumption is limited and faster frame rate potential is increased.

Not entirely unexpectedly, Canon announced a new digital SLR camera; the Canon Rebel XS (Europe model name: Canon EOS 1000D). In addition to the fact that this is a new DSLR, Canon introduce a new segment at the same time; that of the absolute entry level camera class. The latest Canon DSLR is called Canon EOS 450D, and will be put on the market beside the EOS 400D. The SLR cameras look like twins. Canon have kept all the good things of the EOS 400D, whilst adding new ones to it. Naturally the Canon EOS 450D works seamlessly with the EF-S lenses. These were developed especially for the APS-C format of the image sensor, resulting in a cheaper and more compact lens. Together with the compact body, the Canon 450D is the ideal set to use on holiday where usually lots of photographs are taken.
