Leaf, designer of digital backs for professional photographers, announced today the introduction of the Leaf AFi - a new, next generation, medium-format digital camera aimed at professional photographers. The Leaf AFi is specifically designed for high-resolution digital photography, and is seamlessly integrated with the new Leaf Aptus S-Series digital camera backs. The Leaf AFi product line will include three models: Leaf AFi -75, Leaf AFi -65 and Leaf AFi -54. Leaf solutions are based on the premise that a professional digital camera should operate intuitively, becoming an extension of the photographer's hands, while supporting maximum creative freedom and technical excellence.

Leaf Aptus 75S digital back

Leaf is launches the world’s fastest digital camera back at Photokina 2006, the industry’s largest trade show, in Cologne, Germany. The new Leaf Aptus 75S camera back can deliver shooting speeds from 0.8 seconds per frame - or as many as 75 frames per minute - with unlimited burst depths. The camera back in the new S-series uses advanced, accelerated image-processing hardware, incorporating a new, lossless image-compression engine, designed to achieve record-breaking speeds. Leaf has doubled the CCD sensor readout speed in order to accelerate shooting speeds, and has doubled the buffer size, resulting in unlimited burst depths. The new Leaf Aptus 75S will maximize the newest Sandisk CompactFlash Extreme IV card technology for portable shooting, and incorporates the new Firewire 800 communication for maximum speed.

Today Hasselblad unveiled their digital answer to the competition. We saw the new Digital back on the Hasselblad H1D. The H1D takes digital photography to the extreme. Mamiya ZD digital back

Today we were able to get our hands on the new digital solution for professional (medium format) photographers. The new Mamiya ZD is a lens-interchangeable digital SLR which accepts the range of the Mamiya 645AF inter-changeable lenses. Beside introducing this new high-end professional digital SLR Mamiya also unveils a new Mamiya ZD Back. This back is compatible with the popular Mamiya 645AFD and the Mamiya RZ67Pro-IID which just has become available. The digital Back makes it possible to full interactive communicate through the MSCE (Mamiya Serial Communication for External) to provide the best of all of the advanced functions of these cameras.

Jenoptik Eyelike eMotion 22 digital back

Fully designed for untethered use, it sets new standards. Two years ago, at the Photokina 2006, the digital SLR camera started to gain market share. Two years later, the digital SLR is the driver of the imaging industry. New systems like Micro Four Thirds System, will bring new camera concepts, perhaps even revolutionary, and open a new market for a new kind of consumer. Innovations like this and the continuous developments in image quality, speed and even pixel quality, bring digital SLR photography to a high level. The digital camera, compact or DSLR, is at an important stage of its evolution. Will it remain strong as before, and will it keep photography as highly interesting as before?
