Canon PowerShot S95

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Wednesday 22nd, December 2010

Canon PowerShot S95 digital camera review : Last year, Canon launched the PowerShot S90, a digital camera that represented a new road in Canon’s strategy. A camera which did not have Megapixels as its most important feature, and was even downgraded on paper in terms of hard specifications, but at the same time was advanced in image quality. It was a camera that was received wholeheartedly and was highly praised. The Canon PowerShot S95, successor to the S90, follows the same road that Canon took with the S90. Luckily, the amount of pixels is still the same, ten Megapixels, and the size of the sensor has also remained unchanged. It is a compact camera that again focuses on image quality, which is a good development.

Samsung NX100 review

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Wednesday 15th, December 2010

Samsung NX100 digital camera review - The new Samsung NX100 is a new comer in the popular segment of system cameras. This is a collective term for a group of cameras from different manufacturers but with a common denominator: the lack of a mirror. It is a so-called ‘mirror-less’ system, or as Samsung prefers, a compact system camera. The Samsung NX100 is a remarkably designed camera with relatively small dimensions and an average low weight. Although the true innovation is not found inside the camera, but rather in the lens. Samsung introduces the i-Fn lens with the Samsung NX100. The Samsung NX100 is available in different colors (varies per region). The body’s material feels a bit slippery, but due to the design it is fairly stable to handle.

Samsung TL500 review

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Monday 29th, November 2010

The Samsung TL500 camera is designed for the serious digital photographer. A advanced digital photographer looking for an easy-to-carry digital compact camera. The technical specifications of the Samsung TL500 digital camera are really interesting. Not only the 24mm F1.8 Schneider Kreuznach ultra-wide zoom lens is making a difference, the 3-inch AMOLED display with swiveling function are also details that will make a photographer curious. Direct competition is to be expected from the Canon PowerShot G12, Panasonic Lumix LX5 and the Nikon Coolpix P7000. The high-quality 1/1.7-inch format image sensor with a resolution of 10 Megapixels is also a typical feature of an advanced digital camera.

The market for digital compact cameras is steady but does no longer show a significant growth. Within the camera market, the digital SLR camera expanded its market share which gave camera manufacturers like Nikon and Canon a boost in sales. However, the DSLR segment is changing and although the traditional DSLR is still the most important one for consumer and professional photographers, a new segment is grabbing market share and attention from the public. Micro Four Thirds, and other system cameras from Sony and Samsung, could change today’s market share. Canon and Nikon will not give away their market share for free… Photokina 2012 Imaging & Trade show will be the place to be and to get the latest information from all camera manufacturers and their digital cameras.
