Sigma SD15

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new the new Sigma SD15 digital SLR camera. This digital camera is the latest model in Sigma’s digital SLR camera SD series, powered by the 14 megapixel Foveon X3 direct-image-sensor it can capture all primary RGB colors at each and every pixel location arranged in three layers. The developing Sigma SD15 incorporates the “TRUE II” new image processing engine. The Sigma SD15 camera provides high resolution power and reproduces high definition images rich in gradation and impressive three-dimensional detail. Incorporation of the large 3.0 inch LCD monitor and improved processing speed provide ease of operation of the camera.

Leica S2

Due to a leak on the Internet we got our hands on some information about a new Leica SLR camera. And it not only concerns a new SLR, it includes a brand-new digital photographic system as well, the Leica S-system. The Leica S2 will be the first DSLR camera in the new S-system, boosting 37 Megapixel of resolution.

Panasonic G

During a Panasonic Press event, at which the new Micro Four Thirds system was evaluated and further explained, Panasonic also revealed the development in process of a new Micro FourThirds system camera. Panasonic already claims that it will introduce the world's smallest High Definition system camera in 2009. More information will probably be revealed at the upcoming PMA 2009 in Las Vegas. The prototype referred to as Panasonic LUMIX G, seems quite similar to the new Panasonic LUMIX G1 however, at first sight a number of striking features stand out. On top of the body a (stereo) microphone is positioned and on the back, top right side, a red button especially for HD movie capture is placed.

Canon 5D Mark 2

Canon EOS 1Ds at Kenya Safari Event

When you are offered the opportunity to work with the latest digital equipment on a location you will probably never visit again; you do not have to think twice! I am talking about an invitation from Canon Europe on a press trip to Kenya with a number of colleagues from the Netherlands and many other countries. No less than 80 journalists from Europe, among them four colleagues from the Netherlands, were flown to Nairobi, Kenya, at the invitation of Canon. In Nairobi small groups were formed to fly to the Borana ranch in the Laikipia area, north of Nairobi and situated by the Mount Kenya. The Canon EOS Safari trip coincided with 20 years of EOS; a unique memorable moment in the digital world!

Introductions, pre-productions, innovations and many other bits of digital camera news,; in other words, the Photokina 2008, is the moment for manufacturers. Two years ago, at the Photokina 2006, the digital SLR camera started to gain market share. Two years later, the digital SLR is the driver of the imaging industry. New systems like Micro Four Thirds System, will bring new camera concepts, perhaps even revolutionary, and open a new market for a new kind of consumer.
