Nikonians at Photokina 2006

It was the Cologne, Germany Photokina in 1960 when the famous Nikon F appeared with praise from a new breed of fans. These fans had to wait nearly 40 years to define themselves under the name Nikonians. The biggest difference between the first Photokina held in Cologne, Germany in 1950 to the 2006 edition is that Nikon is now a major participant and the brand's users have organized to form a powerful international community. This year, they are not just fans and supporters of the Nikon brand. They are actively promoting excellence in photography by sharing their knowledge through the Nikonians community.

Harman debuts at Photokina exibition

Harman technology Limited, the leading professional imaging specialist, is to exhibit at the Photokina exhibition for the first time in Cologne this September. The company, currently in the final stages of development for a pioneering inkjet media range, will use the exhibition to announce launch plans and provide further detail of the groundbreaking products. Howard Hopwood, Marketing Director at Harman technology commented: “It is very exciting to be guiding Harman technology into the Photokina exhibition; the biggest event in the calendar for the photographic industry in Europe.”

Canon Explorers of Light program

Canon USA has once again assembled a group of the world's leading professional photographers to provide insight, inspiration and education to future generations of creative photographers. Known as the "Explorers of Light," this prestigious panel of 78 Canon photographers delivers seminars, workshops, gallery showings and photo presentations at a variety of professional association and amateur photo groups and colleges across the country as a means of fostering imaging excellence and nurturing the increasingly digital art's next wave. Representing specialties and styles that span the gamut of photographic expression within the imaging profession, Canon's Explorers of Light program welcomes 20 new members to their ranks.

Zimbio Photo Sharing

Zimbio announced the launch of a "Linked Services" feature with Kodak EasyShare Gallery, the leading online digital photo service. Users can now easily share photos from their Kodak EasyShare Gallery account on Zimbio's Public Portals. "Zimbio is a great resource for people who want to learn about niche topics such as Skydiving or Green Weddings and we're thrilled to help people integrate photos into that experience," said David Westendorf, Senior Director of Partnerships, Kodak Imaging Network, Inc. "By providing companies like Zimbio with our photo sharing services and specialty products, we're expanding our reach and enriching the social networking experience with photos."

Photokina hall map

Photokina will be held for the first time in the new exhibition grounds of Koelnmesse, which will consist of the four new Northern Halls and the modernized former Eastern halls, which will then be known as the Southern Halls. Next to the new Entrance South and Entrance North, a new Congress Centre will be available to you in close proximity to halls 7 and 8. Finally, a new guidance and signposting system will ensure that everything is close at hand and easy to find.

Breast Cancer Foundation partnership

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) announced a collaboration today with Fujifilm that will support NBCF's mission to save lives through breast cancer education and programs that provide for the screening of underserved women. Fujifilm will support the effort through a monetary donation; donations of digital mammography equipment; and a cause-related marketing program supported by newly introduced pink-themed cameras.

Digital Camera Satisfaction Study

For the third consecutive year, Kodak EasyShare digital cameras in the $200-$399 price range have ranked highest in customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Digital Camera Satisfaction Study. Since the J.D. Power and Associates Digital Camera Study was introduced in 2004, Kodak is the only brand to rank highest in a single category for three straight years. "We're very pleased with this ranking, since it's based on customer experience and further solidifies our reputation for quality and ease of use," said Phil Faraci, president, Consumer Digital Imaging Group, and a Kodak senior vice president. "Kodak invented the digital camera in 1975 and we have been a leading digital innovator ever since. Our innovation has always focused on providing products and services that create a great user experience, and this ranking confirms that we continue to deliver on that promise.". J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Digital Camera Satisfaction Study. Study based on 5,800 responses from consumers who purchased or received a digital camera between January and July of 2006.

Photokina Mobile Imaging Conference

The Photokina Messe 2010 will be the event where manufacturers will be able to share its latest status within the market of imaging. Are they moving on, will they merge, or did they survived the worldwide financial crisis and already aim to expand their market share with new and innovative electronic devices and professional services? The market is competitive and will remain so in the following years. But it has become clear that manufacturers need to adept to the change of the consumer, or loose contact with the consumer market at all. Consumers connect via modern communication channels are better informed than before.
