While we were visiting the SanDisk booth in Hall 6 of the Photokina event and were informed by Tanya Chuang, SanDisk’s senior retail product marketing manager, about the latest Extreme III 12 and 16GB CompactFlash and the new Ultra II SDHC flash memory cards we were enjoying the live performance of some street dancers. With the help of a DJ the dancers started to show their moves and the audience were caught by the act.

Underwater Photo & Video Competition

Wetpixel and DivePhotoGuide have teamed up again in association with Our World Underwater to celebrate the beauty and delicacy of the marine environment with their 2nd annual international underwater photography and video competition. The competition aims to become the “Superbowl” of international underwater photo competitions - with fantastic prizes, celebrity judges and the opportunity to have your images showcased to the world as some of the world’s best.

Manufacturers come and go, even the most famous and experienced companies had to coop with the rapid developments of today’s digital market. Looking back not that long ago there were for example many camera manufacturers, but it was already forecasted that it would be hard to keep or even gain market share in this highly competitive market. So in the end many of them merged with others, or simply just disappeared. Some companies who are not experienced in the digital imaging world suddenly become major players while others who had merged took advantage of the high-tech knowledge of the companies they took over and succeeded in becoming a major player too in the imaging sector. Canon was not wrong when they stated in one their press events a couple of years ago: “We believe only a few will survive and we are one of them…”
