Canon leads digital camera market

Canon is strengthening its leadership position as America's choice for digital cameras. In a recent IDC study, the Canon brand captured number one position for total digital camera shipments in the first half of 2006, with a market share of 21.0 percent (which is up from 20.2 percent in 1H05). "As the digital camera market matures, it is more important than ever for camera vendors to meet dealer requirements for timely product introductions, and properly address consumer desires with compelling designs and feature sets," said Christopher Chute, research manager for the worldwide digital imaging practice at IDC. "Canon continues to properly execute on these critical principles."

Winner of Lexmark Photo Contest

Lexmark International, Inc. and the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) today announced the winners of the annual AAPT/Lexmark High School Photo Contest. Through this partnership, Lexmark and the AAPT are enhancing the educational experience of students by encouraging them to see the wonders of math and sciences in their daily lives. As a developer of industry-leading laser and inkjet printing technology, Lexmark employs some of the world's finest engineers. Many of those engineers were influenced early on by a love of math and science, so Lexmark has a special interest in promoting education, especially in those areas. This contest allows Lexmark to encourage the study of math and science while also supporting students and teachers across the world.

Photokina 2006 live report

Photokina 2006 live report : Although we are in the middle of August and it's not until the end of September before Photokina 2006 takes place, we are already starting our special coverage of the Photokina show. This World of Imaging show will be the biggest Photokina show ever! We will certainly not miss this one so you can expect the most extensive show report ever live from the show floor. Prior to the opening of the world's biggest digital imaging show several manufacturers like Nikon with their new Nikon D80 DSLR and several other industry leading members already unveiled their new series of digital cameras, printers, camcorders, flash memory cards and mobile devices to the media. At Photokina the visitor will be able to touch and try the new products in person.

The Photokina Messe 2010 will be the event where manufacturers will be able to share its latest status within the market of imaging. Are they moving on, will they merge, or did they survived the worldwide financial crisis and already aim to expand their market share with new and innovative electronic devices and professional services? The market is competitive and will remain so in the following years. But it has become clear that manufacturers need to adept to the change of the consumer, or loose contact with the consumer market at all. Consumers connect via modern communication channels are better informed than before. Social media is for many consumers part of their daily lives where as companies still need to find out how and when to communicate at all.
