Photokina 2010 reviews : Nikon is extending its D-series with a new SLR camera, the Nikon D7000. This is part of a nice series of SLR cameras, the D3100, D5000 and now also the Nikon D7000. A Nikon D9000 might just be the next model… The new Nikon D7000 is a whole new DSLR camera generation and falls between the Nikon D5000 and the D90, at least in terms of pricing. The D90 is still part of the picture, at least until it gets a successor (the Nikon D9000?). This Nikon DSLR is a camera aimed at the serious amateur photographer and offers a full package of camera-settings for creative photography as well as videography, as the Nikon D7000 supports Full HD 1080p video.

Photokina 2010 Reviews - The Nikon Coolpix P-series stands for Great Performance; it is an advanced camera aimed at the serious photographer who demands a lot from his camera. The new Nikon Coolpix P7000 is meant to live up to that and at first glance the camera specifications look very promising. The Nikon P7000 is not just a logical successor to the P6000. Nikon has taken a step back in terms of the amount of Megapixels, has changed the design, and has exchanged the short zoom range for a mega zoom lens. Nikon seems to be getting back to basics with the P7000. Gadgety functions such as GPS and Ethernet-interface have been eliminated, and the emphasis is obviously on the image quality.

Photokina camera review - Nikon has renewed its Coolpix digital camera series with a new compact camera, the Nikon Coolpix S80. It is a new digital camera that is especially riding on its ‘looks’, and it is also equipped with a very fine display. It is a compact digital camera for the trendy photographer with an eye for design, comparable to Canon’s successful IXUS camera line. The Nikon S80 is not a typical photographer’s choice, but it is more meant for those that is looking for ease, wanting to take snapshots now and then while on vacation, or of family of friends. The Nikon S80 is operated completely automatically with support from Nikon’s Vibration Reduction (VR) system, among others.

Although a digital camera with built-in projector is still pretty gadgety, Nikon’s newest projector camera, the Nikon Coolpix S1100pj, has something extra to offer. The Nikon Coolpix S1100pj is the successor to the Nikon S1000pj. This model was the first digital compact camera with a built-in projector with which it is possible to project photos and videos onto a flat surface. In itself this is a very clever achievement, but for the wider public the phenomenon remained unknown, or it was just too much of a gadget for the average user. Of course it also comes with a price, which will undoubtedly play a role in the acquisition of such a camera with gadget function.

The Nikon Coolpix S5100 digital camera lies in between the Nikon Coolpix S4000 and the Coolpix S6000, in terms of numbering. This also seems to be the case in terms of technical specifications. With 5x optical zoom and a range of 28-140 mm, connected to a CCD image sensor with an effective resolution of 12.2 Megapixels, the Nikon Coolpix S5100 compact camera fits nicely in between them. It is Nikon’s answer to the storm of relatively cheap entry-level cameras that are being offered by virtually every manufacturer on every street corner. It is difficult for a manufacturer to distinguish itself in this price segment. Nikon does this by equipping the digital camera with a new image processor.
