Olympus E-System

Posted by: Ilse Jurrien Monday 25th, September 2006

The Olympus E-System is a “designed-for-digital” SLR camera system that has grown considerably since the original Olympus E-1 camera body was launched in 2003. Today, the system includes 5 camera bodies, 17 ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses, and a wide range of accessories. In addition to this growth in the E-System lineup, we have lead the way with innovations such as a Dust-Reduction System, fulltime Live View, and the introduction of the world’s lightest, most compact, digital SLR camera body. We think of this as Chapter One in the history of the Olympus E-System, and we hope it has helped more people to enjoy photography and be satisfied with the quality of the images they obtain.

At the end of August, we were invited to come to Hamburg to attend the press meeting of Olympus. During this European meeting, Olympus introduced their latest compact digital cameras, together with a preview of the new Olympus digital SLR camera: the Olympus E-400. During the press conference, there was a thick queue of four rows of journalists all trying to catch a glimpse of a trio of E400s; making it impossible to get a proper impression of this FourThirds DSLR. Therefore, we are grateful to Olympus for providing us with a pre-production model, so that we can share an extensive first impression with you. Olympus did not yet reveal the retail price at the press meeting, but it will surely be a very competitive price!

Olympus Mju underwater photography

Posted by: Ilse Jurrien Thursday 24th, August 2006

This week we were invited by Olympus to come over to Hamburg, Germany, where Olympus held a big press conference. During the meeting Olympus unveiled their new series of digital compact cameras just ahead of Photokina 2006. Though the weather conditions in Hamburg were pretty bad, a lot or rain, we managed to get our hands on some of the compact Mju models and, how convenient, some waterproof housings. The whole Mju-series have been upgraded and are now offering more features and higher ranked specifications like wide-angle zoom and 10 Megapixel resolution. The compact digital cameras like the Olympus Mju 740 or Mju 750 are stylish designed and easy to handle. You will find additional product information at the special Photokina 2006 report.

Olympus Stylus 725 SW Digital

Posted by: Ilse Jurrien Wednesday 23rd, August 2006

With today’s hectic and active lifestyles, photographers need a camera they can truly rely on when the going gets tough. Luckily, being waterproof to 5m and shockproof to 1.5m, the Stylus-725 SW Digital can pretty much shrug off anything that life throws at it. When Olympus introduced the innovative Stylus 720SW - waterproof to 3m - at the start of 2006, it looked like a tough act to follow. However, the new Olympus Stylus 725 SW is even harder, being waterproof to a greater depth of 5m. The Olympus Stylus 725 SW takes its protection from a durably-constructed and yet great looking metal body. Image quality is equally impressive, due to a 7.1 million pixel CCD, coupled with a sharp 3x optical zoom lens.
