Photokina report
Pentax knows how to attract the attention with the introduction of a number of products like D-SLR's, flash and lenses. The focus seems to have diverted from the compact camera assortment to other products. Certainly when we look at the attention that goes to the D-SLR assortment and the Photokina introductions. The Pentax K20 may be the current flagship of Pentax; with the introduction of the Pentax K-m/Pentax K2000 Pentax once again tries to get a grip on the DSLR market for beginning photographers. The size is definitely not to blame. The Pentax K-m/Pentax K2000 is very compact and can easily compete with other models, and stands a good chance for the title: 'compact DSLR of the year'. Even a pimped version of the Pentax K-m / K2000 was showcased and could be admired.

Hoya Corporation Pentax Imaging Systems Division is pleased to announce that it will exhibit an interchangeable lens and an accessory at Photokina 2008. Both items are currently under development for use with Pentax digital SLR cameras. Photokina is one of the world’s largest photo and imaging merchandise fairs, and will be held this year from September 23 to 28 in Cologne, Germany.

This new accessory flash unit is particularly designed for advanced close-up applications using the automatic exposure-control system of Pentax digital SLR cameras. The P-TTL auto flash system of the Pentax AF160FC macro flash constantly assures the proper exposure level, by measuring the flash’s pre-discharge with the camera’s image sensors and assessing the subject’s lighting condition with the camera’s multi-pattern metering system. At the Pentax booth the new Pentax K10D draw quit a lot of attention which is honestly not surprising. We believe Pentax has an interesting digital SLR that is able to conquer an impressive market share in the segment of 10 Megapixel digital SLR cameras. Although the Pentax K10 is their latest introduction, other products drew our attention. Pentax showcased some digital camera concepts which were quite interesting.
