Although not officially presented at the Photokina 2006 I was demonstrated a new Fujifilm MP-300 mobile printer. The Fujifilm MP300 printer is a compact portable printer you can take with you anywhere, making it easy for you to print out photos from your digital camera or camera phone. It is PictBridge compatible so you will be able to connect your digital camera or mobile phone via the USB cable to the Fujifilm MP-300. More interesting is the support of high-speed infrared communication. You can send images at high speed directly to the Fujifilm MP-300 from a digital camera or camera phone that supports the high-speed infrared communications standard. Such a digital camera is the new Fujifilm FinePix F31fd which supports high-speed infrared communication.

HP Designjet Z3100

At the professional corner of the HP booth HP showed their solution for the professional photographer; the HP Designjet Z3100 photo printer. According to the spokesman of HP the company has listened to what professional photographers really want with these large format printers. The new HP Z3100 printer features a 12 ink solution, including 4 black inks for the highest possible quality. The 12 inks have been engineered to meet the needs of the most demanding professional photographers. Thanks to the HP Gloss Enhancer the HP Designjet Z3100 photo printer delivers excellent gloss uniformity across the whole tonal range, eliminating bronzing and enabling true black-and-white printing performed with 4 black inks to avoid metamerism.

HP Photosmart A717 photo printer

Another interesting HP printer model is the HP Photosmart A717 compact photo printer. The market for home printing is booming and have become a major product group for printer manufacturers to jump in. HP's Photosmart A717 is designed for people who want to convenience edit and print instant-drying, full size 13x18 cm photos, without a PC. An interesting features is the internal memory of 4GB which enables the user to store and view his images.
