Nikon 55-300mm review

Review Photokina 2010 - With the introduction of the Nikon D3100, Nikon has equipped an entry level SLR model with the latest technical touches once again. This amateur DSLR camera will be delivered with a kit lens, the AF-S DX 18-55 mm VR, and perhaps added to with a 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Nikkor lens. It is, however, expected that a new kit possibility will be given after the introduction of a new megazoom lens. The new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm f/4-5.6G ED VR is a powerful standard zoom lens, especially designed for DSLR cameras with a DX-sensor, such as the Nikon D3100. Compared with 35mm cameras, the Nikon offers a range of 55-300mm in 82.5 - 450mm.

Review Photokina 2010 - The introduction of the new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR zoom lens is surprising. There were rumors previously that such a Nikon lens was tested by a professional photographer in the US, but the first reports were still pretty vague. When I first held the Nikon 28-300mm in my hands, I immediately compared it to a Canon lens with a similar focal range. The big difference is actually the weight of the lens. The Canon megazoom lens weighs at least 1600 grams, the Nikon AF-S 28-300mm weighs half that amount, making it easier to carry around. The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm lens weighs about 800 grams.

Review Photokina 2010 - For the full frame Nikon digital SLR camera owners, this is an interesting time. With the introduction of the new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR zoom lens, we are ready for the 3rd Nikon lens for FX cameras. The Nikon 24-120mm lens with a fixed f/4 aperture could just become very popular. The wide angle of 24mm with light tele is ideal for street-, and press photography, but will also appeal to the enthusiastic amateur photographer. The 5x zoom range is ideal for landscapes or small spaces and the tele will also suffice to shoot a nice portrait. Additionally, the fixed F-stop across the entire range is ideal.

Review Photokina 2010 - With the introduction of the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.4G, Nikon fulfills an old promise. Nikon already had the beautiful Nikon 85mm f/1.4 in its assortment, but it was missing a number of specifications that we recently found in the new series of professional Nikon lenses. The new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm now has a Silent Wave Motor, AF-S, and the highly praised Nano Crystal coating. It was a difficult task for the optical designers to improve the already highly valued lens. But this Nikon 85mm lens means that there is a new lens available for the portrait and fashion photographer in order to get the most out of the Nikon FX DSLR camera.
