Photokina 2010 News - Canon announces the development of a new super-telephoto lens for its leading range of Canon EOS Digital SLR cameras - the Canon EF 500mm F/4L IS II USM. Developed as part of Canonís acclaimed L-series of professional lenses, the new Canon 500mm lens will achieve new and advanced levels of image quality. The new telephoto lens will include the highest quality components, featuring high specification Image Stabilizer technology alongside the use of optical materials such as Fluorite, to correct aberrations ensuring high resolution images rich in detail and contrast. Tamron SP 70-300mm lens

Tamron releases another advance in the company's pursuit of high-resolution images in the telephoto lens category. The new Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 telephoto zoom lens features image stabilization and an ultrasonic auto-focus drive. The SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD (model A005) high-resolution DSLR lens is engineered for a Nikon mount, with compatibility for Canon and Sony mounts to follow. While designed for digital SLR cameras, the Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) can be used with both full-frame sensor and AF 35 mm cameras having a zoom range of 70-300 mm, and as well with APS-C sensor cameras where the angle of view changes the zoom to 109-465 mm.

Olympus Zuiko lens review

Photokina 2010 Report : The new Olympus M Zuiko Digital 14-150mm F4-5.6 has a total range of 10.7x zoom (28-300 mm equiv. 35mm camera) and falls under the category all-round zoom lenses. It is a handy lens to combine with one of the Olympus PEN system cameras. There are currently four lenses available in the Olympus Micro Four Thirds Standard System, but there are undoubtedly more being planned. We thoroughly tested the Olympus PEN E-PL1, equipped with a Olympus Zuiko Digital 14-150mm lens. Our test conclusions are based on practice combined with technical tests that are performed in the DIWA lab that is managed by Kai Thon, test manager of DIWA Awards.

Panasonic 3D lens

Photokina 2010 News - Continuing its record of 3D technology leader-ship, Panasonic announced the development of the world's first digital interchangeable twin-lens, making it possible to shoot 3D with an interchangeable lens system camera. As a new member of Panasonicís powerful line-up of interchangeable lenses as part of the LUMIX G Micro System, the twin-lens will allow high-quality shooting in 3D. Currently, 3D shooting with an interchangeable lens system camera is possible only by using panorama systems or by combining two lenses and two CCDs. However, these systems are not ideal and have difficulty capturing moving objects. Panasonic plans to release this new lens for sale before the end of the year.

The growth of the digital SLR and system camera market benefits the lens manufacturers. Due to the change in the market for SLR cameras - the growing popularity of system cameras - we see new developments and innovative lens designs coming up and showcased at the worldís biggest Imaging and Trade show - Photokina 2010. New lenses need to be developed for camera systems like Micro Four Thirds and the cameras from Sony and Samsung. Several lens road maps appeared already on the websites of the lens manufactures showing interesting new products. These new system cameras will change the lens market, in which way and in what time period is something we really want to know.
