Report 2010 Photokina - Nikon announces View NX 2, a comprehensive new version of its popular bundled software package that enables users to easily import, browse, edit and share images and D-movies. Building upon the successful View NX software, Nikon View NX 2 is a feature-packed, user-friendly suite supplied with Nikon digital cameras and available for download. The software now offers a range of tools dedicated to editing D-movie files captured by today’s DSLR and compact cameras. In addition to basic data importing and browsing, Nikon View NX 2 incorporates various frequently used adjust menus and tools such as resize, brightness control, crop and straighten, as well as sophisticated RAW processing functions.
Adobe announced two major upgrades to its hobbyist-level digital photo and video software: Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and Adobe Premiere Elements 7 for Windows with new Photoshop dot com membership. Available as a stand alone product or as a single retail bundle package, the integration between the two desktop software products allows for instant access to the best photo and video options to create cinematic slide shows, dramatic freeze-frame effects, and unique themed creations. Photoshop Elements 7 makes it quick and easy to organize, edit, create and share amazing photos with others by leveraging the editing power of Photoshop software, the professional standard for image editing.
Adobe announced the immediate availability of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 software, the photographer's essential toolbox for managing, adjusting and presenting large volumes of digital photographs. With new enhancements such as dual-monitor support, radical advances in non-destructive localized image correction, and streamlined search capabilities, Lightroom 2 is a compelling upgrade that simplifies photography from shoot to finish. As Adobe’s first application to support 64-bit for Mac OS X 10.5 Macintosh computers with Intel processors and Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems, Lightroom 2 also provides improved memory performance for dealing with large scale images.
Apple, who was noticeably well visited in general, introduced a new version of Aperture at its press meeting: Apple Aperture 1.5. Most of us had expected Apple to come up with a new update, but were not sure about what exactly would be improved or renewed. What was remarkable was the seamless integration with iLife '06 and iWork '06, giving permanent direct access to pictures. There was also support for XMP meta data and an integrated export-API, with which Aperture workflow can be extended with programs and applications from other manufacturers. During the Photokina there were demonstrations of all sorts of plug-ins from leading companies, including Getty Images, iStockphoto, Pictage, Flickr, PhotoShelter, DigitalFusion, Soundslides en Connected Flow. These plug-ins offer a series of print, publication and storage workflows that use this new architecture.
