Prices drop rapidly and capturing video, even in High Definition, is possible with a wide variety of electronic devices. Not only the semi-professional camcorders are recording in HD, even simple mobile phones are doing the job in HD today. Of course there is a big difference in quality and flexibility, but the fact is HD is for everyone. With the rise and shine of system cameras like Micro Four Thirds or the NEX-series of Sony, a new segment of digital camcorders will make its way to the consumers. Featuring the same image sensor as the system cameras, these new camcorders are paving the pad towards consumer-grade HD camcorders with interchangeable lenses. And then we did not even mention 3D… Stay tuned for our Photokina report live from the show floor!
